How to Play

  • A stylized illustrated book titled "Mooshika the Diwali Mouse" with a cream note card reading "For Mooshika" and a bowl of golden round sweets, all on a black background.

    Bring Mooshika Home

Read the book together, then leave laddoos out for Mooshika! The next morning, kids wake up to find Mooshika and spend the day showing him around the house.

  • The Tradition

At night, hide Mooshika and his Diwali activity. Leave a lotus pawprint trail for kids to see where Mooshika was playing and where to find him. Kids do their Diwali activity and have fun decorating the house with one small thing everyday.

  • Saying Goodbye

When Diwali ends, your family decides. Mooshika can leave until next year's Diwali,  the next holiday/celebration, or he can just stay with your family for good! You get to decide what works best for your family.

About the author

Neil M. Gupta

Growing up in America, I always wished there were more traditions around Indian and Hindu holidays.

I wrote Mooshika's Diwali Adventure so kids of Indian descent could have their own stories, traditions, and beloved characters to enable them to feel more connected to their heritage.

I hope Mooshika brings your family love, light, and ladoos for many Diwalis to come!

About Mooshika
